Why we are building Bharatvarsha
This is the first entry in what we hope will be a long and honest record of building a game.
Bharatvarsha is a 2.5D, top-down multiplayer brawler set in the age after the Mahabharata, around the ruins and outskirts of Ayodhya. The pitch is simple: short, decisive fights, a handful of mythological races to choose from, and an authoritative server that keeps everyone honest.
What it is
The first playable version is deliberately small. We would rather ship something tight than something sprawling and unfinished.
- A choice of one of a few races, each with a clear combat identity.
- One section of Ayodhya to fight in.
- Two ways to play: a 1v1 Duel, or Co-op against AI.
- Full server-side validation of movement, attacks, and outcomes.
What it is not, yet
We are not promising a vast open world, a story campaign, or a long list of modes on day one. Those conversations can happen later, once the core fight feels right. For now the bar is one thing: is it fun to play against another person for two minutes.
Building in the open
We will use this devlog to show the work as it happens, including the parts that do not go to plan. If you want to follow along, the wishlist is the best way to hear when there is something real to play.
More soon.
